I wake up to the news of more than 54 civilians dead, amongst them 34 children, crushed under the rubble of what once was their shelter … bombarded by the Israeli Army….so far the war was claimed more than 700 civilian lives…
It seems that the first Episode of the Qana massacre (1996) was a huge success at the Box offices…The Israeli government needed to remind us ten years later that it can still kill with no remorse nor repent..
BBC correspondent Jim Muir describes the scene: “As I arrived, they were carrying out on a stretcher the limp body of a young boy of about 10. Many other children were pulled out of the rubble lifeless”.
Horrible scene, destruction, loss of life, misery…it’s a carnage what’s happening in Lebanon…the world is in hiatus…where are you people?.
International law, conventions, declarations, Security Council resolutions…negotiations…dimplomacy…seem to be semantical details…void and dull…when the Israeli army wants to kill …no one will stop it.
What a rude way to unlearn what I was taught at University for Peace…I wonder what, Dr. Mary King and Dr. Muhammad Abu-nimer, some of the most influential people who made me believe in peace, think about what’s happening…I am out of answers…help!
Then again, if I and many other “I”s give up…the result is more chaos and hate, violence and massacres…
It feels like Lebanese lives are less valuable than “civilised” ones…prove me wrong…please!
I still believe that immediate halt of all hostilities is a must…violence will never provide durable solutions…
Ok…I can hear the airplanes flying low…back to reality…
