Positive Peace: A Quantitative Approach to Peacebuilding
The Executive Director of the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) (USA), Michael Collins gave a talk entitled “Positive Peace: A Quantitative Approach to Peacebuilding” as part of the optional course offered by the University for Peace, Peacebuilding, Organized Crime, and State Fragility.
Thinking about peace from a quantitative point of view, Collins presented the methodological processes regarding measuring peace. For this, he used examples of indicators, including good governance, low level of corruption, free flow of information, among others. Collin’s talk was an initiative of the Chair on Countering Illicit Trade & Preventing Transnational Organized Crime at UPEACE, with the support from the digital magazine, Ideas for Peace.
